Dear Marianne: Are there any toys that will help my preschool daughter learn to share? Peggy, Cleveland, OH, Mom of Katie (3 1/2)
I would suggest toys that promote turn-taking. Board and card games encourage this while having fun. Be sure to play with her and really emphasize how proud you are when your child waits for a turn. Clapping, verbal encouragement and positive reinforcement will make this all part of the game. She may soon realize that sharing can be fun. more...
This set contains pegboards shaped like the uppercase letters of the alphabet and over 100 pegs, which fit into holes on the letters. The pieces are packaged in a box with a handle, for easy storage and transportation. The size of the letter pegboards makes them easy for small hands to grasp. This set enhances beginning language skills while providing an opportunity for socialization and an introduction to the alphabet. Fine motor skills, tactile expression and the concepts of cause and effect are all encouraged through use of the pegs and pegboards.
"Ideal for a preschool classroom and homeschool families."

Toy Tips to Parents: Time to Unplug
Don't over stuff the toy box with tech toys. When is technology too much technology?
While tech toys are popular and some can be educational, the latest round of newcomers at Toy Fair makes it clear we're going too far into technology assisted play. It seems technology now permeates almost every kind of toy category on the toy shelves. Parents run the risk of stocking the playroom with items that undermine the important developmental aspects of childhood play.
