This is a crayon molding factory that turns worn down used crayons (paper removed) and melts them into new crayons in the shape of a car. Once created, the crayon cars can be used for coloring or when a chassis is put on, it can become a play car to race, smash, crash and then recycle into a new crayon car again. A small light bullb emits enought heat to melt the crayon pieces. Parental supervision is mandatory and the whole process takes approximately 20 minutes. Thinking and fine motor skills are stimulated by creating the new crayons and playing with them enhances additional play value. The set includes 2 different car molds, 2 friction motor chassis, a detachable “car crusher” and 12 Crayola crayons. TIP: To easily remove the paper on the old crayons, soak them in hot water. This is a fun activity to reinforce clean up and recycling.

It seems technology now permeates almost every kind of toy category on the toy shelves. Parents run the risk of stocking the playroom with items that undermine the important developmental aspects of childhood play.
